Jade and her mother traveled to Clark County for her first retreat as a new member on the statewide Ohio YouthMOVE council. NAMI of Clark County graciously allowed the state youth council to use their facilities for planning meetings. One meeting was dedicated to planning the upcoming September 2018 Systems of Care Conference in Columbus, Ohio. The youth council worked on plans for the opening, lunch & closing ceremonies, a "scavenger hunt" activity to promote collaborations, a youth & young adult conference journal, a youth evening dinner event, and including youth copresentors within workshops. Conference attendee goals were set at 100 youth, 100 families and 100 providers from across the state. Scholarships for youth and families would be available to cover all costs. NAMI of Clark County also hosted a community youth cookout that youthMOVE state council members and adult supporters attended.
Prior on 4-7-18, a state council retreat occurred that worked on advocacy for peer support, improving social media presence, and planning for Systems of Care Summit.
Conference calls were scheduled for July 9, 2018 and July 30, 2018 to continue the youth council work on planning the Systems of Care conference.
Of note; the youth council is being afforted an authentic opportunity to include their voices for the planning and implementation of this Systems of Care conference.
